On the first day of real
walking we came across this on the way into Khudi, the wobbliest bridge of the
journey. The deck was made from bamboo poles laid irregularly in a criss-cross
pattern, occasionally leaving foot sized holes. On the far side there was no
handrail and the vertical cables were a good arm's length apart. All this didn't
seem to worry the porters coming in the other direction - they jogged down the slope while
we just clung on.
