Pema and Anne are washing their hands in the hot springs at Chame - well there wasn't enough water to have a bath.

Pema is 24 and is from the same the same family as Jamyang. Pema's mother and Jamyang's grandmother are sisters - they say they are cousin/brothers. Pema tried a stint in the army and has studied in Kathmandu until his money ran out, but his real vocation is as international playboy. At the first sign of 'totty' (oh, we taught them some bad English), Pema would slope off to start a conversation. He also has a good nose for seeking out chang which is the local, still-fermenting, beer.  Unfortunately, he is not so hot at cards and one evening managed to blow away a whole days wages.
